Businesswoman of the day: Juliette of My Magical Moment
Wellbeing for children
Sitting together with steaming cups of tea in our hands, I listened to Juliette telling me about one of the greatest creations of her life. She’s a dynamic and flourishing mum, and I’m always impressed by her enthusiasm and optimism. These are in fact the qualities that enabled her to make a dream come true in little more than two years. A dream that started during a talking circle organized by Eglantine. That night, Juliette had come with her daughter. “We were all about to draw a card from the Inner Child Game, remembers Juliette with a smile, when my daughter Tess asked for one too, because it was fun.”
The 7-year-old then “was a real light-bringer as she analysed her card. With Eglantine, we then thought it would be so cool if children could experience the sensations brought by these circles”. At the time, Eglantine hosted circles of talking and meditation for adults: “we thought: why not do a circle for children, at the same time?”. While Eglantine had circles for “the mothers”, Juliette took care of the kids. “This way, the mothers can come and take some time for themselves, and at the same time, the children can too! Learning how to make themselves feel good, becoming more aware of their body, their heart, their emotions so that they can start listening more to their inner self, become more confident and create their own happiness”.
During the first year (2015-2016), the workshops filled up very quickly: at KID & Sens 1 Saturday a month, then at The Apartment (co-created with Eglantine) every Friday. But at that moment, 2 years and a half ago, Juliette had no idea how successful My Magical Moment was to become, thanks to the expansion of the workshops via ambassadors everywhere in France, and even in the world.
The well-being rituals of My Magical Moment:
You must be wondering about what happens during a My Magical Moment workshop. First of all, each workshop has a new theme, like for example “walking through the land of emotions”. 9 well-being rituals will follow one another, always the same ones and always in the same order, so that children can feel at ease. There’s a time for relaxation and a time to unwind, individually and all together, the heart, head and body, and always with the theme of the day as the unifying thread! A little sign at the entrance reminds everyone of these nine rituals, which are as follows:
- Presentation: the child holding the little cloud is the one who talks. Name, age, but mainly: how do I feel today? Sad? Joyful? Angry? So that the children can learn to express, with their own words, their emotional state of the time.
- Centering around a book.
- Talking circle: learn how to talk in front of others, and listen to each other.
- Minute of gratitude: learn how to say thanks, and appreciate what they have!
- The energy circle: holding hands, making waves, moving the whole body, letting themselves go and above all, a lot of laughter!
- Breathing exercise: calming down, reconnecting to their body.
- Yoga posture.
- Unwinding! “freestyle” (as my step-children say ;D) or in a guided ritual.
- Drawing time, for personal expression.
- And last but not least, a final relaxation, so that they’re all relaxed and ready to go back to their parents…
The magical part of MMM is the fact that there is “a core, children coming to every workshop, it creates good vibes, and they greet newcomers well”. Moreover, these children “know the rituals and can therefore go further. For example, breathing exercises are hard at first, children don’t know how to do that! And when the newcomers hear the regular say that “it felt good”, their interest is piqued and they get extra motivated!”
The workshop is 1h30 long and hosts a maximum of 8 children. They can be payed for one by one, for the whole year, or by 5-courses cards… there is no constraint either on commitment or duration, which allows for more flexibility according to time and budget. There’s a workshop on the first Saturday of each month at KID & Sens, hosted by Juliette, and on the third Saturday at the Petit Studio (“Little Studio”) hosted by Laetitia.
MMM expansion: 150 ambassadors throughout the whole world!
“At my level, alone, I clearly couldn’t reach a lot of children. But that was my dream: taking part in world changes, teaching children how to take care of themselves, to do good in and around themselves… Seeing happy kids!”. Very quickly, Juliette knew that in order for her project to grow, she needed more people to host these workshops. “One day, I received an email from a woman living in Toulouse and that I had met in Aix, we had participated in workshops for babies together. She told me how much she loved my concept and asked if I was thinking of expanding it… That day, I said thank you to the universe!”. Juliette trained her first two ambassadors very shortly afterwards. Facebook helped the magic spread: in a little more than a year, the network has 150 ambassadors: around 15 live in Switzerland, 2 in Belgium, 1 in Spain, 3 in the USA, 1 in Bombay and 1 in Montreal. Juliette does all the training in French but the ambassadors abroad host the workshops in their own language. “I have Mi Momento Magico flyers! I’m currently training a new American ambassador and I’ve had a request from Burkina Faso.”
Juliette does her training through videos or in Aix once a month, then follows up on the ambassadors throughout their magical activity. She received more than 500 information requests about her training. But Juliette has strict criteria for recruiting: “I start with the basics, as they have to be receptive to the world of children, caring education, going forward on their own path of personal development by establishing some notions and practices of well-being in their daily lives… Then comes the geographical localization, which is very important for me: I don’t want two ambassadors too close to each other, except in some special cases like very big cities. Helping each other and no competition : they say there’s a place for everyone but reality is different. If there’s 50 Yoga classes in the same city, they can’t all be full. If, after some time, the ambassador has been able to make her activity flourish in her zone and wishes for a partner, then it’s all right. It happened with the one from Réunion: she wanted exclusivity at first, and then one day she told me: Juliette! Find me a friend, I don’t want to be alone anymore!”.
The brand licence last for a year and can be renewed every year. MMM is a community of women (and a man, soon 2!) with many bonds and dynamism, whose exchanges go further than the professional side of the MMM workshops: “there are a lot of private groups on Facebook about MMM, some where we share our daily lives and even our houses for holidays!”. These exchanges create wonderful common projects, everyone bringing their own set of skills: workshops for babies, teens, parent-children duos… “New forms of workshops are created every year, I just supervise the teams, give my instructions and then they can do as they wish. And everytime I can’t help thinking: woooow, I created all this, on my own, from my living room and without any money!”
MMM yearly convention
To enable all the ambassadors to meet one another, Juliette created a first convention, My Magical Week-End, so that they could all gather and exchange: “I knew all of them, but they only knew each other via Facebook. For the first edition in 2017, I had 70 ambassadors and 35 came from all over France.” The date for the second convention is already decided for 2018, and 100 participants have already signed up for it.
Juliette’s new dream:
“Magical Moment for everyone, even in schools and companies !”
